Can you believe the incredible change in our friend Blatchford Sarnemington! Just compare the picture on the left to the one posted a few days ago. Blatchford Sarnemington looks like a mensch again! But looking great is only the beginning. Blatchford Sarnemington is also writing some great poems!
What’s behind this fantastic transformation? As I recommended, Blatchford Sarnemington went out and got himself a muse! Quite a switch, eh? Many of you may recall that Blatchford Sarnemington was very skeptical of the muse phenomenon. Here’s what he’s saying now:
"I feel like a new man! I feel youthful, hopeful, fruitful, and imbued with an energy of abundance and infinite possibility. I only regret that I was a fool for so many years — trying to write poetry, failing, and then kicking myself for my failure. Attempting to write poems without a muse is like trying to be a pilot without an airplane. Foolish and impossible! So goodbye to all that!"
After pausing to catch his breath, Blatchford Sarnemington continued his encomium: "I met Irina in the unlikeliest of places: a poetry reading! Ha, ha! I say it’s the unlikeliest of places because in my experience poetry readings are the last places true lovers of verse will turn up. People go to readings just to see and be seen. It’s about business and socializing, not poetry. Feh, feh! In fact, I would never have been there myself had I not been busing tables that night at the coffee house where the reading took place. Yes, I’ve been reduced to busing tables — but all work is noble, as Tolstoy said.
"To make a long story short, this perfect gem of a woman, this many faceted jewel, this padparadsha sapphire — the rarest of all gems — struck up a conversation as I cleared her table. And that very night we were composing complex rhyme schemes together: abbaccabbadda and more. Much more! And that’s not all. Irinia happens to be the heiress of a vast fortune in the Russian vitamin pill business. So no more busing tables for me. Hah!"
Ladies and gentlemen, this is more than just a beautiful story of the fall and redemption of Blatchford Sarnemington. This is going to be the start of something big.
