we all know how percy b. shelley and the gang enjoyed scary stories. i always loved them too — and also horror movies. but now (alas) no film can scare me. I know there’s always a guy drinking a can of diet coke just out of the shot. But this is a clip that i think would have scared me in the old days. if i show it to my daughters, i think they’ll agree. i believe it’s from a tv series of the stephen king novel salem’s lot, directed by tobe hooper who did the original chainsaw massacre film (which i’ve never seen)
The one below is quite scary mainly because of the tourism tag lines at start and end. A knowledgeable youtube commentator adds some historical info: "These people were victims of the cholera morbus plague that raged through the area in 1833. In an attempt to control the spread of the plague the bodies were buried immediately after death. In some instances the person was in a cataleptic state that resembles death and thus they were actually buried alive only to wake up in the tomb. The open mouths in some of the mummies is a result of rigor mortis." That’s kind of scary.
