As this young man says, if you are dissatisfied with your life but you can’t determine exactly what you’re doing wrong, the trouble is probably that you’re not studying enough Torah. But can we study the whole Torah in one lifetime? It’s very difficult — so I for one have decided to specialize. I am only studying the incident in which Moses strikes a rock, Numbers 20:2-13. Actually this is the second time Moses struck a rock, but it’s the first time he got in trouble for it; in fact, God says that Moses will not be allowed to enter the Promised Land because he struck the rock. It’s true that God had told Moses to speak to the rock, not to strike it, but for this the great leader is denied entrance to the Promised Land? A very puzzling episode!
