“Fridays after Five” [by David Caplan]

Fridays after Five
     for Donald Justice

The sins that make us lovely: the innuendo
of tequila, lick of lime and salt, the office
flirtations of vodka and vermouth.

A drink in one hand, a hand in the other,
pairs of coworkers sway until they're almost still,
shy handprints of sweat on each woman's back.

Soon a waiter will light each table's candle
so discreetly the green light will tremble in apology.
I miss Miami when I’m away. And I miss it when I’m home.
