BREAKING NEWS For a limited time only, the circus will be in the streets – at least under a big top on the lovely, comfortable, well-kept Pelouse de Reuilly – not in the Halls of Power, say City of Light officials at Coopérative De Rue et De Cirque, the street and circus cooperative.
So, whether a body is feeling a little out of place or even dizzy with dismay, whether they are on their way to Budapest for a fine meal of fetid crow at the Rubashov Who?Me? All Party Fools Banquet or simply experiencing a body’s most negative a-flutterings à propos Man and Their Condition, dial up your favorite left-bank hotel and come to Paris for the 21st edition of the Village de Cirque, from 12 to 21 September 2025.
Properly family and properly woke, along with shows of physical and intellectual derring-do that explore the esthetics of absurdity, artifice and authenticity, [personal] agitation and [social] fragmentation, a body can set up the stroller or a blanket on the lawn and take advantage of a Sunday brunch or a circus-fun workshop or just enjoy the opportunity of promiscuous company and life’s spectacle.
A body is bound to be implicated one way or another! Moments that cannot be missed!
______
Over two weeks, Village de Cirque – will feature performances including neo-clown work by Daniel Kvasnovsky, aerial derring-do by Cie Charge Maximale de Rupture, neo-cabaret action by Cirque Queer and a performance-installation by Les Colporteurs, among other new-circus acts. Under the big top on the lawn, Cie Rasposo will premier “Hourvari”, written and choreographed by Marie Molliens, a piece that mixes mannequins, puppets and people. In a purpose-built little castle with Cie La Bossue, Julieta Saltz, an acrobat-magician, dramatic performer-contortionist, will present her newest solo creation, Mon royaume pour un cheval (“My Kingdom for a Horse”). Saltz, also a remarkable clown, must be seen to be fully appreciated. Click for details.
