Tom Healy is a writer, poet, and chairman of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, which oversees the Fulbright program worldwide. He was appointed to the Fulbright Board by President Obama. Healy is the author of two books, Animal Spirits (Monk Books, 2013), and What the Right Hand Knows, which was a finalist for the 2009 L.A. Times Book Prize and the Lambda Literary Award. His essays, poems and criticism have appeared in many literary journals and anthologies. Healy served on President Clinton's Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS and in 2006, he was awarded the New York City Arts Award by Mayor Michael Bloomberg for leading rebuilding efforts for the downtown arts community after 9/11. Healy is a professor at New York University and a visiting professor at the New School. Healy studied at Harvard and Columbia. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, PEN International and the O, Miami Poetry Festival.

David Shapiro is a poet and art historian. Trained as a classical violinist, he was considered a prodigy and appeared on the Voice of Americaprogram at age five. Shapiro also came to poetry early, publishing his first poem in Poetry magazine when he was just sixteen, and his first collection of poems, January (1965), when he was eighteen. Shapiro’s subsequent volumes of poetry include Poems from Deal (1969), A Man Holding an Acoustic Panel (1971), The Page-Turner (1972), Lateness (1977), To an Idea (1983), House (Blown Apart) (1988), After a Lost Original(1994), and New and Selected Poems (1965–2006). The author of studies on artists such as Jim Dine, Jasper Johns, and Piet Mondrian, Shapiro has taught at Columbia University, Brooklyn College, Princeton University, and the Cooper Union School of Architecture. He is a tenured professor of art history at William Paterson University.
